painting at heart

a small selection of photographs made at a paint battle fest in exarchia ,athens, greece summer 2013

At this post a small selection of 17 photographs I made in Athens during one of the Outdoor Paint Battle Parties downtown. It held was in the neighborhood of Exarchia, one of those areas which have been struck hard by the economic downfall. Instead of misery and all, here loving shots of happy and exuberant people partying as if there is no ending to it, sprayed all over their faces and clothes with paint powder in the most deep colors you can imagine. We had so much FUN!!

The whole thing started with a big drum band strolling through the neighborhood [not shown here], to fire up it’s inhabitants for them to follow the band to the plateia [the square] and THEN TO GO COMPLETELY BERSERK, as we all did, throwing, running, screaming. ALL the WORKS! The expression on the faces of the peoples speak for themselves. So have a good look at the photographs and spread the link for your friends to show them happy sides of Athens. It is not only crisis here, did you know people live actually normal lives? They laugh, love, eat, drink, sleep, care and weep as all rich, poor, black, white, yellow and red colored human beings do. [And here as well blue people.]

After being totally indulged into all these outrageous colors, choking up dust, cleaning the noses [awful stuff came out of there], we ended up in a bar [no pictures here], got loaded [OK not completely, so I did not have to crawl home on my knees], ate some Greek Mezethes and later I found myself in the metro all smeared, worn and torn. People looked at me like WTF?? – WHAT THE FUCK???

A splendid time was guaranteed for all.

The day after the paint was hard to get off, clothes needed rinse after rinse and the camera was in need of deep cleaning too. It snored as a happy tiger after that! Imagine that!
